Why Scripture Writing?
If you're like me, it can get too easy to treat reading the Bible like another chore or item on the to do list, and breeze over the words to be able to check the box. But God's word has so much more in store for us than that. When we discipline ourselves to slow down, and write out the scriptures, we give our brains the chance to truly hear what the Holy Spirit wants to say to us during that sacred time, because it is sacred, and it is necessary. We can't reflect Christ to a broken world if we don't know what he looked like as he went, so the text is where we must go.
Inscribing the Word
Being in the Word is part of our faith that will not always come easily to us. It is a spiritual discipline that requires intention. Reading our Bible shouldn't be just where we go when we are looking for a scripture to comfort us in a time of need. While the Lord will use His word to bring us comfort, it is for so much more. 2 Timothy 3:16 says,
"All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for instruction, for conviction, for correction, and for training in righteousness."
When we have our hearts and minds oriented toward the kind of worship our God deserves, we will see that our time and attention is some of the very least that we can offer up to Him.

Praying With Expectancy
Prayer is one of the greatest gifts that, in my opinion, we take too lightly into consideration. No sacrifices, no rituals, no rules, we can simply come to the throne of the Lord of Lords whenever we choose, and He is waiting for us there. Although, it doesn't always come easily and is also a type of spiritual discipline. One thing I have learned in my journey of the Lord refining my prayer life, is how powerful prayer is when I make it more an act of worship, and less a demand of my needs. When I start prayer with praising God for his goodness, his sovereignty, his faithfulness, his justness, his lovingkindness, it serves as a reminder to myself of just who I'm bringing my prayers to. God doesn't need a reminder of who He is, but sometimes we do, especially when we are in the thick of it. So, praise Him, turn away from anything separating you from Him, ask of Him out of His will, and then let it go knowing it is in His hands!
